This was the highlight of Cappadocia!
Just outside the village of Goreme is the Goreme Open-Air Museum (Goreme Acik Hava Muzesi). The museum is a collection of chapels, churches, monasteries and other living spaces, carved from the rock during the early years of Christianity. This picture shows a few rooms that have eroded to the point that only the inner wall still exists. | ||
A very large cathedral-like space that is now fully exposed to the elements. | ||
I did not take detailed notes as to which fresco is in which church. Just enjoy the images for what they are, and don't worry about how old they are (quite old), or what their names are exactly. | ||

Some pedestrian living spaces are scattered about as well. This
room was a dining hall and kitchen. There's a table and benches in the middle,
and a cooking pit in the left corner.
